UMCG Cohort Symposium 2024

On Thursday, 28th March 2024, the University Medical Center Groningen hosted the Cohort Symposium 'Collaborate for Impact.'

The symposium focused on the impact of cohorts and biobanks on patients and society, and on how we can further enhance this impact through collaboration. The program consisted of use cases, knowledge sessions and interactive workshops covering topics related to both public-private and regional collaboration, as well as sharing samples and data for research.

Programme and registration

The cohort symposium started with a lunch at the Fonteinpatio in the UMCG. After this, the official programme is opened by prof.dr. Wiro Niessen (dean) followed by two keynote speakers:

  • Dr. Frederike Jörg (Director Rob Giel Onderzoekcentrum and Associate professor at University Center Psychiatry) - Regional impact through Mindlines 
  • Prof. Dr. Lude Franke (Professor of Functional Genomics) - Cohort impact on policy

After the plenary part, there were two rounds of parallel break-out sessions on cohort use cases, knowledge sessions, focus on collaboration (regional or public/private) or interactive sessions. 

The programme contained a dedicated poster session in the Fonteinpatio where UMCG cohorts and biobanks can present themselves and their impact.
