Professor of Anaesthesiology, Anaesthetic and Cardiovascular Physiology

I am a full professor of Anaesthesiology with focus on Anaesthetic and Cardiovascular Physiology at the Department of Anaesthesiology at the UMCG. I am also visiting professor (Skou professorship) at Aarhus University, Denmark. My research focuses on cardiovascular anaesthesiology and physiology, particularly on haemodynamic monitoring including the microcirculation and tissue oxygenation. My vision is to optimise the haemodynamic management of patients undergoing high risk surgery. Furthermore, I am Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing and Associate Editor of the journal Anesthesia & Analgesia.
