Neonatal care for sustainable health

My research focuses on Neonatal Care for Sustainable Health, with the ambition not only to improve survival of critically ill and very preterm infants, but also to secure their long-term development and wellbeing. I integrate clinical and translational research—ranging from non-invasive diagnostics such as NIRS and GMA to microbiota, proteomic, and epigenetic studies. I am principal investigator of the Neonatal Life Study (NeoLifeS cohort). In addition, I lead the Near-Infrared Spectroscopy Special Interest Group within the European Society for Pediatric Research. Through these initiatives, I am committed to uncovering mechanisms of neonatal disease, identifying opportunities for early intervention, including Life Music Therapy for stress reduction, and ultimately achieving sustainable health for vulnerable newborns.
