    • In a 1-on-1 intake meeting, we discuss what funding options best suit your career stage, funding experience, and future goals. During the meeting we cover personal and consortium grants, eligibility, and support pipelines for relevant grant schemes. Contact us at [email protected] to schedule your intake.
    • We develop departmental funding strategies to support research and financial sustainability. Together, we match the department’s research mission and long-term ambitions with the right funding instruments, resources, and partnerships.
    • Our training on ‘Understanding the national and EU funding landscape’ enables researchers to go from missed opportunities to strategic funding planning.
    • The right consortium members can make or break your proposal. Our stakeholder analysis helps you identify the right partners to build your consortium and make an impact.
    • Our networking grants support the preparation of major collaborative funding applications. These include small seed grants to cover international networking sessions, but also larger 2-year networking programmes to connect and collaborate across Europe. See our internal webpage for more details.
    • UMCG is a member of Crowdhelix, a global online platform that links researchers and companies to build strong international consortia. As UMCG researcher, you can find collaborative opportunities or request partners for your proposal. Visit our internal webpage for login instructions.
    • Our funding scan identifies calls that fit your expertise, network and research goals. We have access to grant databases to search worldwide and set personalized email alerts. Contact us at [email protected]for an intake meeting.
    • Our feasibility check on call fit and eligibility can turn doubts into certainty. You will know if it’s full steam ahead or to keep looking for a better opportunity.

    • We provide advice on your overall proposal structure, consortium setup, and impact and dissemination sections.
    • A review of your draft proposal by one of our experts or an external consultant is often possible for larger national and European consortium applications. Email [email protected] to discuss your options.

    • Departments and teams can also request tailored group workshops. Need a deep dive into impact and storytelling or an introduction to generative AI for grant writing? Contact us to explore the options.
    • Drafting a budget for large consortium applications can be complex. The Project Management Support (PMO) of your department can help and approve your budget before sending it to the grant provider.

    • We work closely with other UMCG Research Support teams and are connected to the Association for Research Managers and Administrators in the Netherlands (ARMA-NL) and the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA). This way, we ensure researchers receive the best grant-related support and insights.
    • As Grant Office we are liaison to the Dutch Research Council (NWO), the Dutch Organisation for knowledge and innovation in health, healthcare and well-being (ZonMw), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), the Nationaal Liaison Officers Overleg (NL-LO) and the Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centres (UMCNL).
