Acute kidney injury in critically ill patients and long-term outcomes

My main research topic is acute kidney injury (AKI) in critically ill patients. Within this topic I focus on (risk) prediction and the long term consequences of AKI. My research encompasses the complete trajectory of patients; factors before and during ICU admission associated with AKI, reducing the risk of AKI during ICU admission and renal outcome after ICU admission. Furthermore, I focus on health related quality of life (HRQoL) after ICU admission. I believe that research on long-term outcomes of ICU patients may facilitate the optimization of appropriate care.
