My research interests are focussed on interactions of cells and tissues with biomaterials, that are implanted in the human body. Current topics are macrophage-mediated polymer degradation, study of the foreign body response, in specific development of the window-on-a-mouse implant model, and fibrosis model studies involving the eye lens and the lens epithelial cell response.
