My main research interest is how an individual’s genetic make-up contributes to immune homeostasis in healthy individuals versus in autoimmune disease susceptibility. I am focusing on celiac disease though the findings have implications for other autoimmune diseases as well. To model celiac disease I have developed an intestine-on-chip platform which I can seed with iPSC- or ASC-derived epithelial cells that we generate from patients or control individuals.
