I am Professor in Translational & Regenerative Biomaterials at the department of Biomaterials & Biomedical Technology (BBT) within the UMCG. The research focus is around material development for implant tissue interfaces and nanomedicine where the core idea is to use the physicochemical parameters of (nano)materials to direct the response of tissues and cells. I teach Biomaterials at the RuG at both the BSc-, MSC-, and PhD-level and research at the UMCG is focused on clinical problems and it often done in collaboration with clinicians as well as patients, medical industry, and policy makers, which is also reflected by the various consortia that have been established and funded, illustrating the highly translational character and the multi-disciplinary approach.
