iMPaCT-implants program: 3D-technology for Personalised Implants (BBT-News)

News

The iMPaCT-implants program has a vision: to create a new generation of personalized implants.

iMPaCT-implants represents a crucial step towards market readiness with a special focus on addressing the needs of stakeholders and deliver custom solutions to patients. The department of Biomaterials & Biomedical Technology (Patrick van Rijn) will collaborate with the department of radiology (Martijn Verhagen) and Bether-Encapsulates (Albert Poortinga) to develop a coating for central venous catheters that can release antimicrobials on demand when an infection of the catheter occurs.
This would potentially avert the need to change the catheter, and decrease costs, risk of thrombosis, and risk of short and long term vessel damage.
