Dutch government allocates EUR 345 million to stimulate data use and standardisation in the field of healthcare, and to promote artificial intelligence

Over the next 5 years, the Dutch government will allocate 20 billion euros for investments that contribute to economic growth. The money from the National Growth Fund goes to knowledge development, infrastructure and research, development and innovation. The first 4 billion of the fund has been distributed, part of which goes to innovative projects in the field of data science and Artificial Intelligence (AI). The AiNed investment programme Artificial Intelligence of the Dutch AI Coalition (NL AIC) and Health Research Infrastructure (Health-RI) are among the first selected projects.

The AiNed programme accelerates the development and application of AI in the Netherlands. With the allocation of 276 million euros from thise National Growth Fund the AiNed program focuses on large-scale projects to resolve five bottlenecks with a unique learning and integrated chain approach, in which human-centered AI comes first and all parties of the quadruple helix work together: government, education and research, business, social organisations and citizens.

69 million euros for Health-RI
Health-RI

Health-RI is a Dutch national initiative that is facilitating and stimulating an integrated health data infrastructure. More than 70 healthcare and research related organisations and initiatives, including UMCG, are already working together to make optimal use of knowledge, data, facilities and tools. With the investment from the National Growth Fund, Health-RI can quickly take the next steps to make health data more accessible for health research and innovation.
