As a doctor, teacher and researcher my focus is on interprofessional education as a means to address the Human Resource Crisis (HRC) that is threatening healthcare, locally and worldwide. By evidence informed implementation of IPE we can better prepare healthcare workers for future, interprofessional practice. Simultaneously, implementation of IPE can be used to gain a better understanding of IPE. For example, how IPE can best be implemented of how different professional cultures impact interprofessional learning. We use different qualitative research methods to investigate these topics in Groningen, in the Netherlands and in low income settings such as Indonesia, Ethiopia and Sierra Leone. Together, I believe we can improve patient care by improving interprofessional collaboration.
