As a Sandwich PhD student in the Department of Human Movement Science, my research focuses on the physical activity and walking pattern of older adults, with and without frailty. With data collected in China we analyze frailty and physical activities of people living in rural areas in China. My current project in Groningen aims to classify older people with no frailty, older people who are pre-frail and frail, based on daily physical activity, measured with wearable sensors and questionnaires about general health. I will employ machine learning approaches for classification. Next to the identification by these changeable behavior factors, my work in China, focus also on the development some personalized intervention to improve their physical function.
