Throughout my career, I have gravitated toward roles that bridge EU/national policy, professional perspectives, and lay audiences. I enjoy creating clarity out of complexity, building connections, and guiding individuals and groups in their learning journey. I am happy to help define the societal impacts of research problems and deliver training workshops on funding-related subjects. My heart lies in enabling EU collaborative projects that allow me to work on a wider horizon than national, use my skills, and benefit from working with others, from other countries, on subjects that help the greater good. In my mind, I am a bridge-maker, an enabler of much-needed collaborative research and education projects. To me, Europe is the playground, where I can help place Dutch research on an EU horizon. Before joining UMCG Research BV, I spent over 10 years at an EU granting agency, guiding organisations in designing EU grant proposals and supporting awarded projects. I also selected and trained Erasmus+ evaluators, enabling me to bring the evaluator’s perspective to the table.
