Strengthening preventive child health care

Research
Our society needs an excellent and sustainable public health workforce. PHR adds to this in collaboration with public health professionals.

We enable these professionals to convert questions that arise from their daily practice into research with significant societal impact. The overarching aim is to strengthen prevention and improve participation in case of health problems, with a focus on people in vulnerable situations like low income and low health literacy.

At this moment community physicians (in training) perform research projects in the scope of an PhD trajectory or scientific internship of their community physician training. They mainly focus on the following research topics:

  1. Vaccination willingness, especially regarding (a) the public debate about childhood vaccinations and (b) vaccination pain.
  2. Medical training, with emphases on (a) the training of medical students regarding health advocacy, and (b) diversity of medical students and their supervisors.
  3. Early life development and early detection of problems in development and mental health.
