I am a psychiatrist and epidemiologist with broad clinical experience, and head of the department of Psychiatry. My research focuses on the epidemiology, underlying mechanisms and treatment of depressive disorder. My aim is to develop new interventions to conquer depression, which may range from prevention and early intervention to treatment of patients with Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD). I combine research in large epidemiological studies such as NESDA, TRAILS and LIFELINES with clinical projects looking more closely into day to day symptomatology (iLab psychiatry), pathophysiology and novel treatments such as Psychedelics.
My aim is to provide high quality care to patients with severe mental disorders in a context where innovation, education and research thrive and strengthen each other.
