Within the Research Programme Metabolism and Transport of the research institute MoHAD under the theme Development and Aging, fundamental researchers and clinicians form a synergistic research community dedicated to understand complex processes of metabolism and translate these to novel clinical applications.

The Metabolism and Transport programme includes the following research areas:

  • Principles of metabolic regulation from cell to organism
  • Transport and processing of proteins, lipids, and metabolism
  • Inherited and age-related metabolic disorders
  • Metabolism in ageing, cancer, neurodegeneration
  • Cardiac and liver diseases
Relevance

How our research benefits to society

Metabolism-related disorders may already develop before birth, increase with age, and are major economic and social burdens. Insight in metabolic processes in health and disease are required to develop innovative treatments and increase health span.
