The IMPACT PPP Program

Facility
Joining forces to revolutionize organ transplantation through cutting-edge machine perfusion technology to save more lives.

The IMPACT PPP Program

The IMPACT vision

The Innovative Machine Perfusion for Advancing Clinical Transplantation (IMPACT) program aims to advance machine perfusion technologies for organ preservation, assessment, and repair. By collaborating with top institutions and private partners, it drives innovative solutions to improve organ viability, enhance regeneration, and reduce immunogenicity, strengthening the Netherlands' position as a global leader in transplantation.

With the UMCG Transplantation Center and the Erasmus MC Transplant Institute as primary program managing partners, the respective experts join forces to create solutions for various organs. This program aims to reduce waiting times, improve patient outcomes, and position the Netherlands as a global leader in transplantation innovation. As a result, more lives are saved, and the logistics of organ transplantation are optimised.

The IMPACT PPP program

The IMPACT PPP program is made possible via the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) subsidy scheme introduced by the Top Consortium for Knowledge and Innovation - Life Sciences & Health (TKI-LSH aka Health~Holland). Through the program, parties have the opportunity to apply for PPP projects with the PPP subsidy from Health~Holland.
An amount of 1.2 Million Euros PPP subsidy has been allocated to the IMPACT Program to distribute among and support collaborative projects by issuing a Call for projects to run between 2025 and 2030.

The IMPACT program document will follow

The IMPACT Program is focused on research and development for innovative machine perfusion technology for advancing clinical transplantation under the following four domains:

    • Heart transplantation
    • Lung transplantation
    • Liver transplantation
    • Kidney transplantation

Proposals that fit with one or more of the above mentioned themes are welcome to submit. The Program group strategically prioritises applied research, focusing on technologies with practical applications within the industrial research (TRL 5-7). The Call will be open in Q2 2025.

  • Through the program, parties have the opportunity to jointly apply for PPP projects with  a request for PPP subsidy from Health~Holland.

Applications are welcome from 1st of June, to 1st of October 2025.
