Rapid data-driven developments are currently (re)shaping healthcare and our society in general. For UMCG to become a world leader in data-driven healthcare innovation, we believe it is crucial to integrate these developments into our work processes.
DASH, as a comprehensive UMCG-wide programme, is strategically positioned to accelerate the integration of data science and AI initiatives and increase their impact. In line with UMCG's overarching vision, DASH actively seeks collaboration with various partners at regional, national and international levels. This joint approach focuses on continuous improvement and pushing boundaries, ensuring a sustainable trajectory for the future of health.
In 2023, DASH achieved important milestones in advancing data-driven healthcare innovation. Funding from the national Medical and Health Sciences Sector Plan allowed us to expand our team and implement more educational activities in data science/AI and eHealth.
Throughout the year, the introduction of ChatGPT generated a lot of interest, which led us to thoroughly explore its potential applications in the UMCG. Moreover, the official launch of the ELSA AI Lab Northern Netherlands was a crucial moment in boosting AI research and innovation.
In our research efforts, DASH remained committed to supporting various projects, focusing on collaboration, both internally and externally. In September 2023, we further expanded our support capabilities with the launch of our IT Lab. This serves as a hub for project support and solution development for researchers, as well as a platform for matching supply and demand in IT and data science expertise.
