Elena has a keen interest in research and a strong belief in the importance of translating academic innovations into value for society. Trained scientist turned into business developer, she enjoys direct contact with researchers and working in interdisciplinary teams. After 7 years working as business developer in contract drug discovery and development, Elena joined the UMCG where she supports researchers turning their ideas into concrete plans with high societal impact. She holds a PhD in chemistry from the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (Spain). After a postdoctoral stay at the Ludwig-Maximilian University (Munich, Germany), she moved to the Netherlands to join Symeres BV in 2013, first as research scientist and then as business development director. In 2022 Elena joined the UMCG, where she is currently active as business developer at the Innovation Center and project manager at the Research BV.
