We generate societal and economic value by studying innovative drug concepts.
Within BDDD, we work on the improvement of drugs and technologies used in drug development, production, administration and safety assessment. We specifically focus on therapies for age-related diseases (e.g. fibrotic diseases, COPD and cancer), in line with the UMCG’s focus on healthy ageing.
We collaborate with other researchers within the GUIDE institute, the UMCG, and with external partners, including industry. The top-notch research performed within our programme offers an attractive environment for young, talented researchers, and has yielded concrete results:
Reduction of the use of animals in disease and in drug safety research;
New inhalation devices and vaccine formulation strategies;
Gene doping detection by next generation sequencing.
