Ben Saleem is a vascular surgeon and clinical researcher at the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG). His clinical and scientific work focuses on complex aortic disease, vascular graft and endograft infections (VGEI), and advanced endovascular therapies. He leads a translational research programme that integrates clinical vascular surgery, advanced imaging, biomaterials science, and international registry-based research. His primary goal is to improve the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of vascular graft and endograft infections through personalized treatment strategies and innovation in vascular reconstruction. Dr. Saleem serves as Head of the Division of Vascular Surgery at UMCG and is Chair of the Vascular Surgical Network North Netherlands (VNNN), one of the largest regional vascular networks in the Netherlands. He is actively involved in national and international initiatives aimed at improving quality of care, regional collaboration, and implementation of evidence-based vascular practice.
