As a researcher, I am intrigued by the ways sex and gender shape health and healthcare.  The interplay between biological, psychological, and sociological factors influences health and healthcare differently for men and women, resulting in potential health inequities. My research aims to disentangle the mechanisms underlying these sex and gender differences in health(care), while particularly focusing on health-related stigmatization and its consequences, including the discontinuation of evidence-based healthcare. Addressing these topics requires an interdisciplinary perspective. Therefore, I apply a range of research methods rooted in health sciences, epidemiology, sociology and history, to understand how biopsychosocial processes affect the health of women and men.
