Science without Borders: from fundamental sciences to biomedical applications

News

From 9 to12 December 2024, the Department of Biomaterials and Biomedical Technology organizes a symposium, hosting a large delegation from Groningen's Strategic Partner Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) to celebrate our academic collaboration.

The title of the event is "Science without Borders: from fundamental sciences to biomedical applications"

The symposium follows the organization of a successful Summer School hosted by UNAM in 2023, in which seven UMCG/FSE researchers participated. There are several days with lectures that focus on:
- gels
- photonics
- sensors
- nanotechnology
- biotechnology
- biomedical applications
- drug delivery

Affiliated researcher from both UMCG and FSE associated with the Institutes for which this research is within the scope (PRECISION, MOHAD, ZIAM, ENTEG, Stratingh, GBB), we are pleased to invite you to this event that will be organized at both the UMCG-campus and Zernike-campus. In addition, the event aims to host many participants from UNAM on both the staff member level as well as on graduate and undergraduate level. All participants will be given the opportunity to actively participate by giving a short lecture or presenting a poster. We aim to showcase the flourishing Groningen-UNAM collaboration and the excellence of our joint research. The events are particularly interesting for those who are interested in establishing new or expanding existing research connections, including UG-UNAM Double Degree PhD opportunities.

For the different sessions and symposium days, institute directors and faculty deans will share with us their insights on the importance for collaborating with key international partners to enhance scientific advancement educating world-leading young scientists that will tackle the larger global questions. It provides students from all levels, to interact with established scientists from different fields and expand their network by discussing with peer from different faculties, research groups and nations.

Below there is the program with listed speakers from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, highly distinguished guests as faculty and institute representatives and the various key facilities that enable high level research in both Science, Engineering, and Medicine.
