Step into the world of algorithms on 20 October, a lecture by Prof. Dr. Bayu Jayawardhana

UMCG Innovation Lecture: Tinkering with algorithms, the art of inventing in the 21st century

On 20 October, speaker prof. dr. Bayu Jayawardhana (RUG) will take you into the world of algorithms and explore their role in high-tech and med-tech systems, including ASML machines, biomedical devices, and robotics.

Diving into the development of algorithms in combination with physical systems

On the 20th of October, the upcoming UMCG Innovation Center lecture will welcome Prof. Dr. Bayu Jayawardhana. We'll look at the role algorithms play in high-tech and med-tech systems, from ASML machines to biomedical devices and robotics.

Many of us are accustomed to thinking of Edison as the archetype of a great inventor. Inventions are often thought of as novelties that can be felt, touched, observed, or seen. However, the introduction of computers and the internet to the masses has brought forth a new type of inventor, whose software and algorithms have revolutionised the world. With the advent of AI, algorithms have once again brought about a technological leap that has changed the way we think, work, and see the world.

The timing matters. With the arrival of the AI factory , a new ecosystem of autonomous systems in the northern Netherlands, algorithms combined with physical systems will drive innovative breakthroughs and open up new economic opportunities for the region.

So how do we develop the right algorithms? Join us to find out and be part of the conversation.
