My current research focus following is persistent organ failure with the focus on respiratory failure in the ICU. Adopting a translational approach, I aim to identify patients at risk, the mechanisms of lung healing and ultimately improve care in these patients.  To achieve these aims I bring novel techniques to the ICU such as point-of-care neutrophil flowcytometry,  molecular imaging and radiomultiomics incorporating immune mechanisms and tissue remodelling.
