Ondansetron treatment for children with acute gastroenteritis is cost-effective.

Although the use of ondansetron for children who vomit because of acute gastro enteritis (AGE)is proven to be cost-effective, there are barriers for implementing correct prescription and usage of ondansetron in general practice. In the GO-KIDS project, collaboration between experts, healthcare providers, and parents will lead to the development and evaluation of three implementation strategies: a Pharmaco Therapy Audit Meeting (PTAM) module, e-learning for healthcare providers, and set of information materials for parents. This with the ultimate goal of more efficient use of ondansetron and improved care for children with AGE.

Applying already existing medicine for improved health care

The development of new medicines takes a lot of time and money. How smart would it be to use already existing medicines more efficiently, and apply them for improving health care?

More efficient use of ondansetron in the general practice

For the GO-KIDS project, the aim is to implement more efficient use of the medicine ondansetron, thereby improving health care for children with AGE.
