About my research

 In my joint PhD with the University of Groningen and the Inflammation, Pregnancy, and Development group at the UMCG, my focus is on developing a prognostic test for pre-eclampsia, a pregnancy hypertensive condition. Specifically, by investigating the maternal inflammatory response to the allogeneic fetus, we aim to better understand why the mother's immune system rejects the fetus in pre-eclampsia, unlike in a healthy pregnancy. The joint PhD offers the unique advantage of combining fundamental research expertise with the translational, patient-focused approach of the Inflammation, Pregnancy, and Development group, bridging the gap between bench and bedside.
