The 'AI Hype, Hope and Humanity' festival took place at De Doelen in Rotterdam on September 30 and October 1 and 2. It was a joint project involving the ELSA Labs (focused on the ethical, legal, and societal aspects of AI), one of which is ELSA Northern Netherlands. Mirjam Plantinga was among the festival's key organizers.

Over the course of three days, the pros and cons of AI were explored. The event featured presentations, demos, and panel discussions on using AI to improve long-term care, mental health services, sustainable food production, new materials research, renewable energy, smart port security, and more—covering a wide range of topics. It was three intense days, but a huge success according to the many attendees.
Congratulations to our ELSA-NN colleague Jonida Milaj Weishaar from Security, Technology & e-Privacy Research Group (STeP) Rijksuniversiteit Groningen for receiving an outstanding poster award at the AI Hype, Hope & Humanity Festival!
