News
Seven Groningen-based academic startups from the University of Groningen and the UMCG have made it into the top 40 of the Academic Startup Competition. This places the enterprises among the 40 most promising academic startups in our country.
Academic Startup Competition 2025

The Academic Startup Competition is an initiative of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, Techleap, the Universities of the Netherlands, and the NFU, among others, and aims to acknowledge and help the Netherlands’ most promising academic startups with taking the next step in innovation and entrepreneurship.

From top 40 to top 10

In the spring of 2025, the 40 startups will participate in a tailor-made programme in which they will develop their business case as well as their entrepreneurial skills under the guidance of experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders. Ultimately, ten startups will be able to participate in ScaleNL’ s trade mission to Silicon Valley.
