Healthcare and pharmaceutical developments have had a major impact on the general health and life expectancy worldwide. The healthcare systems currently face challenges related to affordability and access to (pharmaceutical) care with the strain om the healthcare budgets increasing. Research into development- and pricing mechanisms and cost-effectiveness of pharmaceuticals and screening programs can help to ensure access to medicine and optimize healthcare spending.
