At the heart of my discipline, clinical neuropsychology and cognitive neuroscience, is the pursuit of understanding the brain for behaviour and cognition. Better understanding enables better assessments, training and therapies, but also contributes to greater well-being and health. My research focuses on integrating basic research on the neural correlates of executive functions, improving cognitive performance through neuroscience approaches, and translating research into practical applications. Since executive functions are impaired in psychiatric disorders and are considered a transdiagnostic risk factor, improving executive functions promises to improve daily functioning and quality of life, as well as prevention and risk reduction. I am interested in the role of psychedelics in cognition, as well as in the combination of different trainings such as Neurofeedback and psilocybin.
