Rubicon Award for Arno Bourgonje

Arno Bourgonje of the Department of Gastrointestinal and Liver Diseases has received a Rubicon Award from ZonMW.

His research focuses on the early detection of chronic intestinal inflammatory diseases by unravelling the human immune system. More about his research can be read in this article.

The ZonMW programme Rubicon allows recently promoted scientists to gain experience at a top foreign institute. This is an important stepping stone for a scientific career. Bourgonje will spend 18 months doing research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York.
