PhD student

I am a resident orthopedic surgeon at the Medical Center Leeuwarden (MCL), as well as post-doctoral researcher at the department of Orthopedics at the University Medical Center Groningen. I obtained my MSc at the University of Groningen, with a 6 months research rotation at the orthopedic surgery department of the Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston (USA), on upper extremity disability. Hereafter I was admitted to a combined residency and PhD trajectory at the UMCG focusing on the outcome of primary total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the Netherlands using national arthroplasty registry data. My current research focuses on improving interpretation of arthroplasty registry data in orthopedics, international collaboration and the use of machine learning in observational orthopedic research.
