With over 10 years of working experience in health research and innovation, Roel has specialized in the domain of regional ecosystem development and innovation strategies. The UMCG Innovation Center has a vast network of partners in the region with whom, jointly, we accelerate the transition of 'sick care' to 'health care'. We aim to add more healthy years to life, while at the same time transform the healthcare system to keep it accessible and affordable. This requires a view on innovation that goes beyond 'products and services', that includes processes and systems. Innovations that have high complexity and by default require collaboration. As leader of the regional Health Impact Noord (Hi!Noord) program Roel forges synergetic innovative collaborations between partners in the Northern Netherlands region, and he focuses on strengthening the ties with other (international) innovation ecosystems to exchange knowledge on approaches that aid healthcare transformation.
