The Department of Biomaterials & Biomedical Technology (BBT) proudly celebrates an outstanding achievement at the 5th Annual Event of We in Quantum Development (WIQD), where two of its researchers were honored with prestigious awards recognizing excellence in both scientific innovation and community leadership.
Daniela Rassler, PhD student, was awarded the Talent in Quantum Award, recognizing her pioneering contributions to cancer diagnostics through quantum sensing technologies. Her work stands at the forefront of interdisciplinary innovation, demonstrating how quantum approaches can unlock new possibilities in biomedical research. Beyond her scientific achievements, Daniela was also commended for her exceptional spirit as a team player, embodying collaboration and dedication within the research environment.
In parallel, Professor Romana Schirhagl received the Community Impact in Quantum Award, a distinction that highlights her transformative influence beyond academic research. The award citation praised her for “going beyond her formal role through exceptional mentorship and efforts that foster inclusion, belonging, and support for diverse researchers in the quantum community.” Her leadership continues to shape a more inclusive and supportive scientific culture, inspiring the next generation of researchers.
These dual recognitions reflect BBT’s commitment not only to cutting-edge science but also to building a vibrant, inclusive, and collaborative research community. The achievements of Daniela Rassler and Prof. Romana Schirhagl exemplify the department’s core values: excellence, innovation, and impact, both within science and across society.
BBT congratulates Daniela and Romana on this remarkable recognition and looks forward to their continued contributions to advancing quantum science and fostering a diverse and inclusive research community.
