I am a basic scientist and full professor of Immunology with a focus on immune-mediated disease. My translational research line aims to unravel the pathogenesis of autoimmune mediated forms of blood vessel inflammation (vasculitis) to better treat and monitor disease activity in patients. This research line is well embedded within the vasculitis expertise center Groningen (www.vasculitiscentrum.nl). As a mentor and teacher I am involved in various bachelor and master courses relating to immunology.
