Idaira Pacheco-Fernández, Marie Skłodowska-Curie postdoctoral researcher in our department, received the Miguel Valcárcel Award for best PhD thesis, which is granted by the Spanish Society of Analytical Chemistry.

Idaira completed her PhD in Chemistry at Universidad de La Laguna (Spain) in 2021. She studied the design and use of ionic liquids and metal-organic frameworks in microextraction techniques for the development of more selective, sensitive and sustainable analytical methods. Her PhD thesis has also been awarded by the Spanish Society of Chromatography and Related Techniques and the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry.
Now, Idaira works in the group of Prof. Santos in different projects that focus on the use of metal-organic frameworks in biomedical applications. Her main project aims to develop a bioanalytical method suitable for the non-invasive diagnosis and monitoring of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Congratulations!
