Involving patients in research is one thing. Doing it in a way that is truly meaningful, credible and compeling to funders is another. This hands-on workshop, part of the UMCG Grant Navigator Training Programme, helps researchers design patient involvement that genuinely strengths research quality and funding applications. We encourage researchers and research staff preparing grant applications to participate.
What to expect:
– Practical tools to design patient involvement across research phases
– A clear picture of common pitfalls and how to avoid them
– Insights into what reviewers actually look for in patient involvement sections
– Concrete material you can reuse in your next grant proposal
The workshop is co-delivered by Paul van Duuren (UMCG Research Office) and Merel Hennink - patient expert and founder of Stichting Merels Wereld, with experience as a research partner in national and European projects. Their combined perspectives makes this a rare mix of research support, lived experience, and reviewer insight. A €100 registration fee applies, with all proceeds donated to the Stichting Merels Wereld.
Registration is open until June 1 and can be completed by sending an email to this address. (Seats are limited)
