My experience as a physiotherapist has taught me how important physical and psychological functioning is for an optimal quality of life and participation in society. Patients with lipedema have to deal with problems in functioning on a daily basis. My PhD research contributes to understanding the pathophysiology of lipedema and increasing the scientific basis for both the diagnosis and treatment of this condition. It is my passion to be able to contribute to improving the care for this population in order to improve their functioning, participation in society and quality of life.
