Immunological aspects of kidney transplantation and kidney diseases

Most of my patients have undergone a kidney transplantation or are in the process towards one. Together with the patient, I try to keep the kidney transplant functioning well for as long as possible, so that the patient can lead a relatively 'normal' life. In my research, I want to better understand the role of the immune system in both kidney transplantation and autoimmunity, and thereby further improve immunosuppressive treatment and make it more personalized.
