Orthopaedic surgeon Profile
Orthopaedic surgeon

The body is an instrument of movement. As an orthopaedist, I use this principle in my treatments. The creative solutions that we have within the UMCG are an asset to maintain mobility and function, especially in the case of oncological abnormalities. By planning 3D resections around tumours and having reconstructions made in advance, custom made implants, a new way of approaching what is part of our research scope has emerged. In addition, our team is committed to "artificial intelligence" and "machine learning" to make predictions in the field of metastases, but also in facilitating consultation hours. I also participate in close collaboration with the department of infectious diseases in the field of research into orthopaedic infections.
