Neurobiological mechanisms and treatment of major depressive disorder

I have a background in neuropsychology and psychopharmacology with specific expertise in the pathophysiology of major depressive disorder. I have a broad interest in pharmacological treatment with a specific focus on the clinical management of treatment-resistant depression with both conventional and novel antidepressant agents. My research aims to elucidate similarities and differences in the neurobiological mechanisms of these pharmacological agents to facilitate the positioning in the current treatment landscape. This comprises the identification and validation of blood-based biomarkers of antidepressant response to monitor and compare treatment efficacy from a pathophysiological perspective.
