Maarten Pijper is Lead Engineer & Project Manager for BAAT Medical. He has a background in Biomedical Engineering (University of Twente) and has been working in Medical Device development for over 10 years. In his current role he is responsible for making sure that newly developed medical devices are beneficial to the patient, the user, and the investor and that this is done in a manner that is compliant with internal quality standards as well as regulatory requirements (e.g. MDR).

BAAT Medical is a service provider that has been at the forefront of medical device innovation since 1999. With over two decades of dedication, their journey has spanned 240 partnerships across 15 countries, advancing the field of medical technology.

Maarten Pijper will address the following questions:

  • How can you translate ideas/technology born in an academic setting to something that has added value in the healthcare market?
  • And once you have selected what kind of product you want to develop, what are the critical steps necessary to make it into a Medical Device in an efficient manner?
