Innovation Lecture in collaboration with HTRIC

Innovation Lecture: Explore MDR research translation and medical entrepreneurship

The Medical Device Regulation (MDR) continues to shape how healthcare innovations are developed, validated and implemented. To explore these opportunities and challenges, we are pleased to announce an upcoming Innovation Lecture, in collaboration with HTRIC, focused on the intersection of medical device regulation, clinical research and entrepreneurship.

The session will bring together two speakers with complementary perspectives:

  • Elisabeth Wilhelm, University of Groningen, will provide insights from the research perspective, reflecting on the role of MDR in clinical research, implementation and innovation within academic and healthcare environments.
  • Romana Schirhagl, researcher and founder of QTSense, will share experiences from the company and entrepreneurial side, discussing how innovative technologies move from scientific discovery toward commercialization and clinical application.

The lecture is designed as an interactive discussion with room for questions, bringing together regulatory, clinical, research and business viewpoints. Participants will gain practical insights into the realities of developing medical technologies within the current regulatory framework and learn more about the pathway from research to impact.
