The Program has received €1.2 million in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) funding from the subsidy scheme by Top Consortium for Knowledge and Innovation - Life Sciences & Health (TKI-LSH aka Health~Holland). It aims to enhance organ preservation, assessment, and repair. Through collaboration among leading academic institutions, industry partners, and healthcare professionals, the Program seeks to improve transplantation outcomes and strengthen the Netherlands’ position as a leader in transplantation research and innovation.
Focus Areas of the IMPACT Program
The IMPACT Program will concentrate on four key areas of transplantation:
- Heart transplantation
- Lung transplantation
- Liver transplantation
- Kidney transplantation
With an emphasis on applied research, IMPACT supports the development of technologies with practical applications in industrial research, through collaborative projects between healthcare institutes and industry partners.
Strengthening Public-Private Collaboration
“The IMPACT Program demonstrates the importance of collaboration between research institutions, industry, and healthcare,” says Prof. Vincent de Meijer, transplant surgeon and Chair of the UMCG Comprehensive Transplant Center. “By working together, we aim to develop technologies that will enhance organ preservation and improve patient outcomes.”
Dr. Olivier Manintveld, Chair of the Erasmus MC Transplant Institute adds, “This Program represents a step forward in machine perfusion research and collaborations. By optimising organ transplantation logistics, we can improve efficiency and provide better care to patients in need.”
