We are thrilled to share the insights from the first event of Impact-implants. The Impact-implants R&D program had its first annual event on 10th June 2024 with the title: 3D-technology for Personalised Implants: How could you connect?

Joep Kraeima, the program leader, together with the project leaders Nick Assink, Patrick van Rijn and Anastasiia Krushynska share abouts the ambitions of the program and their projects.

Jan Willem Veldsink has facilitated the discussion with Gerald Jonker over the perspectives on the future of personalised medicine and the innovating changes in the production chain necessary for the next generation of personalised medical solutions and implants.

A group of about 45 people was present with complementary expertise and various career levels. The participants have engaged in fruitful discussion and share challenges they recognize in their routine, whether they are from the clinic, from research or from industry. It was an energetic discussion that provided input to work on in the coming years of the program.

Towards market-ready medical solutions

At the core of the iMPaCT-implants project lies a vision: to create a new generation of personalized implants. This innovative initiative harnesses the potential of cutting-edge digital technology, including 3D imaging, and integrates patient-specific data such as bite force, walking patterns, and other movements. The consortium aspires to set a standard for medical implants within the European Union, making implant solutions a reality for patients.

Clinical and research departments of the University Medical Center Groningen and University of Groningen work together with regional industry partners Witec Medical, BAAT Medical, Bether Encapsulates and Polyvation into 6 research & development lines.
The program is made possible by the Just Transition fund made available by the European Union, by Ministerie van Economische Zaken en Klimaat en Samenwerkingsverband Noord-Nederland (SNN). The program management is performed by UMCG Innovation Center.

We thank HTRIC for the support, the van SwinderenHuys for the logistics at location and WildSea for the media support.
