Ilona is a medical engineer with experience in the field of quality. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Groningen and a Master’s degree in the same field from the Technical University Delft. Ilona did internships at a medical device development institute in Austria, at sterile reprocessing companies and at the UMCG's medical microbiology department, on the efficacy of disinfection and sterilization of medical devices. Since 2016, she works for the UMCG consulting on the safe and sound innovation and implementation of medical technology. She followed the UMCG NEXT education program on (personal) leadership and (change) management. In May 2022, Ilona joined the Innovation Center, bringing in expertise on the Medical Device Regulation (MDR). Combining her understanding of medical technology, safety thinking and innovation tools, she explains complicated things in a simple way.
