Hans has worked both in academia and industry and is applying his expertise and experiences in assisting researchers and (potential) entrepreneurs in adding value to their research and ideas. Hans holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Groningen and an MBA of the University of Bradford and TiasNimbas University. He has worked as postdoc at Harvard University on molecular evolution in marine biology and as a scientist at a biological oil refining research company in Houston TX. In 2001, he joined Biomade Technology Foundation, as business developer and founded the spin-off Mucosis. Later he joined IQ Corporation and was involved in the development of therapeutic antibodies. Since 2012 he works for the UMCG to assist scientists in evaluating strategies, protection of intellectual property, establishing collaborations, negotiating contracts, and in developing business cases. Hans has founded multiple startups, both profit and non-profit, all focusing on the development of drugs.
