Experimental Perinatology

Many adverse environmental factors can influence the fetus and the child. Some of them, like smoking and maternal diet, can be controlled by the mother. Others, like placental dysfunction, can still not be efficiently treated.

Our group focuses on

• Which molecular factors have long-lasting effects on the child’s health;
• are there chances to influence these factors or the way they work on the fetus;
• can we predict outcome by using them as biomarkers.

Our research involves human biomaterials and laboratory models, which are analysed by state-of-the-art epigenetic technology.
