Exercise = Medicine: Interdisciplinary learning communities for applied exercise physiology:

Exercise is important for a healthy lifestyle, but this is not easy for everyone. Think, for example, of sick elderly people, but also of athletes who exercise a lot. In the Netherlands there are several exercise experts – doctors and sports scientists – but there is no common approach and training in applied exercise physiology. That is why in this Comenius project we are developing an academic program in which students, teachers and professionals from different disciplines learn together about healthy exercise. They go through two successive learning communities in which they jointly learn to tackle complex cases. This creates a better connection between education and the professional field that is necessary for the application of Exercise=Medicine.
